UPGRADE/REPLACE DEAD OUTSIDE TEMP GAUGE

First off some formalities.
I would like to wish all my mates here on MBW a very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Prosperous 2014.

Okay what we have here is a failure (to communicate).
But seriously we have an LCD that suffered from the dreaded flood and was essentially useless short of buying a replacement one and hoping it worked.
Not too mention down here ya'll we speak in Celsius not Fahrenheit.

Now many will have seen the little mod I did not long back after finding a .28 inch LED dispay for a voltmeter. A couple of small mods and worked like a dream.
However quite a few of you felt your temp gauge to be of more value particularly in expectation of freezin your asses off and ice on the roads.

Enter the 3 in one .28 inch multi function LED gauge.
The princely sum of USD $18 shipped from (wait for it) China and no, it's not URO brand.

Specifications:

Feature:Multifunction, Time/Voltage/Temperature,3in1
Display: 32mm x 10mm x 13mm
PCB dimensions: 35mm x 16mm
Operating temperature: -40 °c -85 °c
Power Supply voltage: DC 7-30V ( with anti-reverse protection )
Display: Four 0.28 "LED digital tube
Display Color: Red
Refresh rate: about 300mS / times
Measuring temperature: -55 to 125°c
Accuracy: about 0.2 °c
Sensor Cable Length: about 1M
Sensor probe:18B20
Measuring voltage: Range 0-200V DC , Accuracy ±0.1V
Clock: 24-hour, the battery backup is available 3-4 years

Display modes:

Only display time
Only display the voltage
Only display temperature
Time temperature voltage alternating display

Not only does it give you a "Voltmeter" but also a "Temp Gauge" (in Celsius) and a Digital Clock and it can be set to scroll through all 3 functions rather than having to worry about buttons.

Now the difficult part making it fit. Well in truth it wasn't that difficult really.
You do have to modify the housing but once you realize what is needed it is a matter of seconds.

So get out the sharp cutting knife, small blade screwdriver, some super glue and off we go...

Here's the link - I hope you enjoy.

And at great expense to the management the gauge in action (not installed in car yet)
