Vibration when passing

I have a 94 E320 that has this weird vibration that happens when I kick it down into passing gear. It seems to be RPM related rather than speed...although at high speed it is there but slight. If I slowly accelerate (100kph to 120kph or 60mph to 65mph) it is just there....but if I "jump" on it the vibration is very noticeable when as the RPM increases as the transmission downshifts. This is also the case at lower speeds but high RPM. I just had the whole driveshaft out and everything seems OK. Could it be engine or transmission mounts? I even thought it may be a plug/wire or injector that is failing under load. But it won't do it when stopped with the brakes on and power applied...no miss.
It almost feels like a miss...yet there is no acceleration/power loss in passing gear, just this vibration.
Hope somebody can steer me in the right direction.

It might be bad mounts. Open the hood and shift back and forth between drive and reverse. See if there is excessive engine movement.
