Climate control Questions.

Hello all,

What is the propelr operation on the vents in the 300E? In my '89 when the heat comes on the center vents don't blow but there is hot air coming from the side vents and from the center console. I know the center vents do work because they blow cold when the A/C is on but not when the heat is. Is it supposed to be this way? Is there anyway to stop the hot air from coming from under the dashboard when the heat is on or is my car "special"?

Thanks.

260E , 1989 (for now)
When the heat is on, there will always be hot air coming out of the side dash vents, defroster and from under the dash. There is no heat coming out of the center vents and there is no way to completely stop hot air from the bottom of the dash.
Switching to defrost will somewhat reduce the volume of hot air coming from the side vents and under dash.

Air only comes out of the centre vent when the A/C is on.

Somewhat counterintuitive, but it IS supposed to be working this way.

In response to Manual, yes, this is the proper functioning. I wish heated air would come out of the center vents, but sadly this is not the case.

There will also be leaking air from the defroster vents. The air flap diaphragm is not leaking; this operation is part of the design and is normal.
