W124 230E - gear indicator light constantly on, even after car switched off
Folks,
Posting this on behalf of my dad who owns a W124. Recently he has noticed that the middle console backlight (the one that lights up the gear indicator as well as the power window switches) stays on, even after the car has been switched off.
He has taken the car to an auto electrician who basically spent half the day trying to diagnose and fix the problem. At the end, he just removed the side panel on the passenger side (it is an ex-UK import car, so the steering wheel is on the RH side), stuck his fingers into the wiring loom, jiggled it a bit and now the light stays off when it is supposed to.
Thoughts and ideas as to what may be causing this? I have searched the W124 forum but could not find anything that matches the symptom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
