Question Larger Rims and Wider Tires on a E200

Hi –

Just acquired a used E200 in good condition over here in Seoul, South Korea.
The car came with stock alloy-rim and tires (195/65/ R15) and I’m currently interested in replacing them with larger rims & wider tires.
I did a search and got some useful information but still not sure as how wide and large I should go.
The E200 (1998cc/136hp) was only available in specific areas like Asia and I’m concerned about lacking power when I go too big.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m currently considering the following options: (1) rims = 16x7, tires = 205/55/R16 (2) rims = 17x7.5, tires = 215/45/R17
I’m also thinking of replacing the tires on my C200 (185/65/R15) with the ones that I will take out from the E200 (195/65/R15) would this be OK?

Thanks and regards,

Eugene

That all depeds on how you drive your car. I am prity sure that you are lacking power so you dont drive very hard. In this case I would suguest the 16s but if you realy like to drive get the 17s. I would not go any larger than 8in wide a 7.5 is fine. Tire sizes should be 225-50-16 and 225-45-17, the 17s will give you better performance than the 16s as well. However the 16s will ride a bit better but it is not nite and day as my 18s ride very very well.
