Dashboard dismantling

I,m installing a Webasto heater in my '90 200TE, and need access to the fan switch. Does anyone know how to pick the console apart without breaking anything? The ashtray also need to come out.

Underneath the wood console are two screws. Remove them and pull the wood downward and out. Be careful not to break the plastic clips on top!

In addition to the previous poster. The ashtray has two srews which need to come out. They are located inside the ashtray holder. The ashtry insert has to come out first (same way you clean the ashtray). The center console part has a screw under the carpet lining. Then carefully remove the center wood part, since all the switches are attached to the console.
