1994 E420 (well sort of) sale question...

My friend is offering to sell me his e420...except not really an E420. He swapped the motor for one out of the 94 E500 (5.0 L V8,
a bit over 100K miles) and also swapped the black leather interior, which is in great condition. The car is also lowered a bit
and has Brabus wheels and rolled fenders along with stiffer suspension. There are also a bunch of other little things done to it, he was a Benz
mechanic and this was his project car for a little while. He is offering to sell it for
$4000...so I'm wondering how just how good (or bad) of a deal this? Bad, average, once in
a lifetime? The car has minor things wrong with it, but overall she is clean looking and
runs strong.

I got my 1993 real 400E for $3,800 is a very good condition. Thus far, in 4.5 month, I've already put in $7k into it. $4,5 upkeep, $2.5k in direct repairs. I'd expect more or less same scenario development for your car
