My AC works fine until I have to accelerate rapidly. Then it blows warm air and doesn't come back on for about 20 minutes. Does anyone have any familiarity with this problem?

Yes, put a set of AC gages on the system to determine the status of the refrigerant system!!---if No then that would be my first step.

Yes you will have to put your hand in your pocket if you do not have a set of gages and the knowledge to read the results!!

You did not indicate that in your original post---so every one can learn, how and what was the H and L bar---very interesting!!

I checked it by getting a bottle of refrigerant with a gauge on it from a local parts store and hooking it up to do a recharge. Gauge was in the green.
