400e Oxygen Sensor Info

Wanted to make this post to help others as I had trouble finding this exact information myself.

There are plenty of threads and articles out there for oxygen replacements on 6 cylinder w124 cars, but none detailing V8 cars.

While the six cylinder cars have their connector inside, the V8 cars don't require you to take apart your interior. The connector is right where the grommet would be on the body.

Also, the sensor needed is the Bosch 13326. No splicing needed as it has the OE connector. Bought mine on Amazon for under $70 (usually $100+ elsewhere):

. I did end up zip tying part of the wire as it was twice as long as needed.

I used an oxygen sensor tool ($10 on amazon) as the angle of the sensor on the exhaust pipe makes it impossible to use a wrench to break loose.

The whole procedure took about 30 minutes with the front of the car on a set of rhino ramps. Was surprised how easy it was.

I did the replacement as I failed CA smog. Everything was well within spec except for hydrocarbons at 25mph. Ignition system, fuel, and vacuum system are new so it must be the oxygen sensor or catalytic converter. Hopefully this will resolve everything. Will report back after my re-test this week.
