E420 Transmission Shifts Well Cold, Not So Well When Warm?
Hello Everyone! I have a 1994 E420 that seems to be having some intermittent transmission problems. When it is cold, the transmission shifts at the correct rpm, and very smoothly. However, the warmer the car gets, the jerkier the shifts. Sometimes, the trans doesn't shift until 3000-3500 rpm and skips 2nd gear all together and jerkily shifts to 3rd. It is also hesitant to down shift. Lastly, when I floor the car from a standstill, the car occasionally goes past redline and wont shift into second. I have to let off the accelerator when that happens so the engine doesn't blow.
The only thing I've done is put in some Trans-X. This did help the car into shifting more normally most of the time, but the trans still is not operating completely as it should. A classic Mercedes Mechanic told me to not service the trans with new fluid and filter because it may start slipping. I definitely don't want to put in a replacement or rebuild the trans because the car isn't worth it financially.
Any suggestions?

Yep you have electrical(600 bucks) and mechanical(thousands) issues with the transmission----if you don't want to fix---investigate the amount of a tax credit if you donate the car---or find some sap\wife that just has to drive a mercedes or some Iranian taxi driver that need another car to tote his mullah around!!
