1994 E320 replace climate control bulbs
I needed to replace the bulbs in my 1994 E320 climate control panel. The panel is easy to remove, just two screws but once it was off I couldn't see how to get to the bulbs. They are behind two pieces of black tape and once the tape is removed you can see the bulbs but can't grip them to remove and replace them. The method may be well know but a search did not return any answers. I found a small length of soft silicon hose which has a grippy quality worked perfectly. The bulb is just under 5mm and the hole is not much larger. A hose with an outer diameter of about 6.5mm fit in the hole and after pushing the hose on over the bulb a little pull and wiggle removed them. To install just barely push the bulb into the hose and place the bulb in the socket without seating it. Then you can wiggle the hose off and seat the bulb with something soft, I used a small wooden dowel.
