Axle seals
My mechanic suggested I replace the rear axle seals and repack the CV-boots. Is that a DIY job or is it better to have the mechanic do the job?
Thanks

Do your seals leak? If not, I wouldn't mess with them.
Normally the grease will stay inside the CV boots, unless the rubber cracks. Then if you run them dry for a while, replacing CV boots or repacking them will not help. You'll have to replace the axles, which is not that difficult.

My mechanic said that the CV boots are drying out and my axle seals are starting to leak and should be replaced in the next 2-3 months. That's why I am trying to find out if I can do it myself or should I leave it to my mechanic.
Thanks.
Thanks.
