Stalling/Idle Problem

Okay here's the problem, I have an 88' 300E. When driving or at idle the engine will out of the clear blue shy will stall. It gets hairy at times cuz it stalls at some bad times, like at a light or on the freeway while driving. I changed the Over voltage relay and did a complete tune up. I've taken it to shops and they contend that they can't determine the problem unless it stalls in their possession..So I left the car with them for two days and what do you know. nothing happened! So as I was leaving the shop 10 miles later what do you know it stalls. The crazy thing is when it stalls, when I sit for approx. 30 secs or so it fires right back up...This is what lends me to beleive it's electrical.....Anyone have any ideas or sililar problem??

My aunt's 500E used to stall when I put it in gear at idle. I'd slip it into drive and it would stall 2 seconds later. It stoped... I have no clue!

The distributor cap and rotor could be corroded, which can lead to little or no ignition.

If the engine stalls when going into gear, the idle control valve could be malfunctioning. When shifting into gear, a load is exerted on the engine, and hence it needs to adjust the idle speed to prevent stalling.
