gold plate oxidized

I purchased a 1991 300e with gold trim. (300e is blue with gold strips along window and two strips on hood are gold). The gold is very oxidized and dull. It there anyway to bring it back to it original luster?

Thanks in advance
Gman

260E , 1989 (for now)
First, what you have is not gold. Gold does not oxidise.
I would try a mild cleaning compound.

realize that is not gold, My mkistake. TI is either gold plate or brass of some kind. I did try some metal cleaner and it did nothing.

Most brass is lacquered or anodized, or else it wouldn't last more than a few months. You may want to have this professionally refinished. I tried refinishing brass myself, but couldn't make it last.
