260 Tach?
I had someone come over(30yrs MB exp but not a lic mech) and look at the 1989 260E ...... he jumped the 87 and 30 posts (The relay is brand new) and had me start it...it ran.... but he told me it was the tach not working right.... said the tach had to send a signal with in a second or two of the engine starting..... true?
could I hook up an after market tach? I did go to the wreckers and all they had was an 1994 E-Class 8cyl tach ( which I brought ) should/can I take it out of it's mounting plate and put it in the 260's plate? Or should/can I re-solder the 260's?
Any Help ??????? Please

Not sure about the signal during engine start-up, but I experienced a fuel cut-out before during very high revolution so I believe the Tach might communicate in some ways with the Engine ECU. 260E has an in-line six engine so a tach from a W124 with a V8 or diesel engine won't fit. Ideally, find a Tach from a matching W124. There are plenty on eBay.
