Newly acquired 93 400E - Seeking your audio suggestions

Hey everyone, new to the forum here. I just acquired a 93 400E (picking it up this weekend). I previously owned an 88 300E (great car) which was unfortunately smashed up in an accident. I'm looking forward to the driving the 400, but I have some doubts about whether to take my old components out of the 300 and put them in the new ride.

The equipment in the 300 (still have it all):

Clarion head unit.

Components in the front, 4" mids and 1" tweeters mounted on the doors. Didn't really like the mount of the tweeters, they were too obvious.

5.25" mids and 1" tweeters in the back, all squeezed in under the OEM 5.25 speaker grilles.

12" Alpine Sub in sealed box in the trunk, powered by Alpine mono amp.

Other stuff powered by Audiobahn 4 channel amp. Crossovers for the components.

My dilemma: The 400 seems to me to be a much more refined and powerful cruiser. I'd like to keep all my mods relatively stealth. I'm not sure whether I want the sub in the trunk, taking up all that space and weight. I like the bass, but really don't need it (I always had the sub set at about 2/6).

Anyone have suggestions for what to do with the new ride? I'm especially curious about some alternatives to the sub in the trunk.

Congrats on your new purchase.
I have a 400E so i went through the same dilemma as you.
All your speakers will fit the same, but when i installed my MB Quart components i had to fabricate certain pieces in order to get proper stage and the such within the stock locationg, completely stealth, except the tweeters.
I've seen an alternative to the sub with an 8 inch woofer. It means you will have to sacrifice your Med kit. It was installed in a little box that sat where the kit did. It was aimed into the car. Nice for a midbass unit. I myself have a set of Alpine R 15's in the trunk.
If you have any more questions, go to this Speaker Swap in Dash and Doors

When I bought my car it already had an aftermarket Sony Tape deck installed in it, but since it was tape I installed an Alpine CD deck. I don't know if the speakers are original or not but the whole system sounds really good, better than several new cars I've been in. The only thing that I would like to do is put a subwoofer in and since I don't want to lose trunk space I figure that the Infinity BassLink is a good choice. It's very small and can be mounted under the first aid kit. Give it a try.
