Stroke Bore

I was wondering how the 93 300E models the 2.8 and 3.2 made their changes in displacement. I think the used the same block, the m104 however I am unsure if they increased the displacement by boring it out or stroking it or a combination of both. I've read some things that say it was increased by the stroke but I am not sure if that is accurate. There were alot of models that used the m104 and I wanted to know if I would be able to increase the stroke using the piston rods off one of the models with the same block. I have a 300E 2.8. I would like to know how mercedes accomplished the 3.2 liter version or if there are any other versions that I might be able to convert to. I have looked all over the place and can't find enough specific information about the cars to find out of I can do this. Thank You!
