94 e320

Just won an ebay bid for a 94 e320 blk/blk with about 141,xxx miles. It seems like it has a good body and seller stated that everything works but has a small oil leak. It is located in CA but i'm in GA it will cost about $700 to transport and it makes the total cost about $2300.... Should i go ahead and get it or look locally??

You won a bid on eBay, then started wondering about cost due to the distance, gave forum members a two liner, and expected them to express support or persuade you out of the deal when you hardly looked at the car before bidding? I would say be a responsible eBayer, accept the consequences of your bid and hope for the best. Folks will help you when you have more specific problems with the car. There are a few similar posts recently seeking advice when either the thread starters did not know what they were buying (a modern classic or a money pit), or were pretty much determined to buy but nonetheless sought comfort by seeking opinions from the forum whereas there was hardly anything on which others can make an informed assessment. Buying a used car and one over 20 years is a very risky business. Unless you know the seller, his car and maintenance history well, the rule of thumb is "if in doubt walk away", or seek professional advice when there is access to the actual vehicle. Good luck!
