Messed up big time headgasket w124
Hi all , new member here and I look forward to giving and receiving help where I can.
Although I doubt people will need help after my last fu
E280 T headgasket replacement , set engine at tdc and market the chain etc etc. all goes well till I start reassembly.
Bolt the head back on , nudge the chain loose and it falls in but I can grab it out by hand. and try putting on chain again. marks do not match up any longer......
Clever as I am I turn the crank by hand (breaker bar) to adjust and the engine seizes . ( cylinder is hitting valves on 6) She is no longer at tdc and now EVERYTHING is off since I got mad and turned everything....... . Then tried removing camshaft and bit breaks off.....just got it out and head of hex bolt is not damaged .
Now what is my next step?
1. Chain is no longer marked
2. both shafts are completely wrong position
3. crank TDC mark is at bottom now (where it should be at top) and it will not turn more then a few inches both directions.....
Thanks and hope to find a solution soon

I went and turned the shafts to follow the valves with the pistons (as I also turned the pistons.
She turns freely now but chaintensioner is not attached yet.....
but shaft line up. Pully lines up (on crank) #1 is at tdc.
Am I going to be off with exhaust valves vs intake (180° ) or can I not tell till start up?

So turned out I left the belt on and it folded dubble on the pulley. and thereby blocking everything
dumbest move ever haha.
Besides that all is back together now and running like a champ (should have changed the chain but was sick of it so next time.
