Very Wierd Mystery

Here's one that's more interesting than annoying. Often, when my 16 year-old son is a passenger in the front seat, and I stop and turn off the ignition, the doors lock. This happens only when he is the passenger. It never happens when anyone else is in the seat, nor when nobody is in the seat. Only when he is. I wonder if it's his weight acting on something that's throwing the vacuum switches when I turn the car off. I have no clue, but it's really wierd. It's been going on for months, and we keep saying we need to ask the guys on the forum. Any clues?

Is he eager to get out of the car when you stop.

I noticed mine locked when my wife pulled on the door lever just as we stopped.

Or else its a poltergeist!

Maybe the following is happening: Maybe if you are driving your son by accident pushes the door-lock button (with his arm) in his door. When this happens namely all the doors will lock when the car will be turned off (at least that happens in my car).

btw: hello everybody. I'm a new member, reading your posts for a while already. Now I thought maybe I can help.

About my car: I have a 1992 250D, 375k. Very beautiful car in my opinion, although mine is still totally original. My parents have a 300SE w126 and a w140 300SE. Both beautiful cars, but I prefer the w126. But that's enough about our benzes.

Hope I helped you with your problem

Thanks guys. Terry, I think you may have hit the nail. Assuming no poltergeist, I think my son does show some eagerness to escape prior to stoppage, and his hand does go for the handle early. I tested your theory today--without success of course--by holding the handle partly open and turning the car off and on a couple of times. My guess is that the phenomenon is not consistent. My son and I will try the experiment together tomorrow.
Best!
Brian
