intake sludge

I have been having problems with the famous rough idle on my 1994 e320 M104 engine. Today I decided its time to check the MAF sensor, which looked clean. As I was puting it back on I realized there was black sludge (most likely oil build up) in the intake pipe that heads to the manifold. I pulled the temperature sensor out and it was covered in the same sludge. Has anyone seen this before? and what am I dealing with here??

also on a side note, this just started blinking today, any idea?

Thank for the reply, no I havnt but thats a good start. I dont have the tools to test it but im going to buy a cleaning kit this weekend, im sure its gunked up. The car sat for 2 years and im trying to make it worthy of the road again. ( I thought all I needed was a starter and an oil change, HA! boy was I wrong!!)
