Forward gears are good.Reverse weak,very weak, the electric sensor on housing broken but wires seem fine. Could reverse fail while toward has no problem?

With this generation Mercedes transmission, if the clutches are wearing out, reverse tends to be the first to go. I'd check the fluid level of course, see if you have a slow leak that might mean you're not immediately in trouble, but most likely, you're looking at a rebuild or replacement.
