1993 300E 2.8 Ocasional misfire/backfire
1993 300E 2.8, 50k miles. Always drove superb. Recently got an erradic idle, and a misfire/exhaust backfire. I will explain:
When I am driving it, slowly, it drives like a dream, not sluggish no vibrations. When I stop the car, it idles fine but got some kind of drop of rpm (as shown in this video of the car:
If accelerating hard front end shakes (misfiring) and even backfires until gearbox doesn't reduce gear. Only after gearbox decides to reduce gear the car gains speed like a train.
Work done:
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug cables
- coils (bought 1 and exchanged between all 3, no difference in working condition, note that the connector's COIL-spark plug are original)
- MAF sensor
- OVP sensor checked and working good
- Wiring harness replaced ONLY INJECTION SIDE
- crankshaft position sensor
- even ECU checked and nothing melted
Also, the fuel rail was been taken off the car and while cranking all injectors work great, firing order and quantity of gas/petrol seems correct.
I am thinking that the wiring issue was not done properly, but again, the car has the exact same problem after all this work.
I am starting to go a little bit crazy because after all this the car is even worse..
Any help would be great..
Thanks
