My Acc/Fan belt shredded. What will they charge to change $18 belt?
shredded a belt, it didn't really overheat, I stopped before it was getting hot.
Normally I am 75-90 degree celcius or at least that's what gauge says.
So I could obviously tell it was going up in temps.
luckily when belt goes, all the warning lights pop up and power steering dies. So was easy to tell what happened, as the car ran perfectly fine.
The belt was all shredded, I just pull all of it off and unwind it.
So, I dropped off my car at a Mom and pop looking
German car repair shop here in NJ Clifton.
I had appointment set up with them for bushings to be changed for Monday.
I am handing them the replacement ACC Belt part tomorrow.
Should I expect $45-80 services? or is it automatically going to be $110+
I saw it and want to do it myself but I don't have any crowbars and stuff on me. I am living in apartment now.
I've done it before, but was few years ago.
One of the mechanics has a W124 420E 93-96 sitting there in decent shape. (Maybe this is good news, lol)
If the number is stupid i will do it in his lot or move it further away and do it myself.
Also I have another guy down road not much further. (i trust him more but I had appointment, so i said what the heck)
So he ripped me off a bit.
but it's ok because The tensioner broke and a prefer them to be the ones to do tensioners and stuff.
but moral of this story.
go to your trusted mechanic.
All they need to sort out is the thump from bushes/differential bushings.
once that's done the car is perfectly flawless mechanically wise.
AC is working and all.
I just need sort out my front cent vent as its open but nothing blows through. (i confirmed this by removing the middle vent)
