I am considering a purchase of a 1993 400E, 120k miles for $1800, as a daily driver about 18mi a day. This would be my first used car purchase on craigslist. It's been unused since the summer. The car was bought new in 93, and passed down to the son from the father. I have not seen the car in person yet.
From what I've gotten so far: the engine runs perfectly, overall in good mechanical shape, a/c works, there's an exhaust leak in the mid muffler, and the transmission is solid but slow to shift from park to drive when its cold but it shifts well once the car is warm. I asked about the wiring harness and he says he hasn't had a problem with the wiring harness. Around how many miles would problems with the wiring harness start to come up? Are there any other things to ask before meeting up with him? Anything in specific I should check when I see the car in person?
