Rebuilding of the 92 W124
This past weekend I started working on my 92 400E. I ran into a few snags along the way like a wasp nest attached to the headlight, a bolt that was in a ridiculous spot, and and a spider nest on the other headlight. Found that the top timing guide was missing and the oil separator was cracked. Now from what I know the engine stopped running before I bought it. I have a few different options to go with at this point. Fully restore this engine and hope to not find tragedy when I take off the cylinder heads. Replace the engine with another m119 4.2L. Upgrade the engine to the m119 5.0l motor. Or I am doing a conversion to a ls motor or 2jz motor.
Now out of Curiosity if I was to upgrade to the m119 5.0l what else would I need to replace? Lh module? Ignition module?

I guess it all depends if you have the matching engine harness and ECU to go with the upgrade. Would be safer finding a good, running engine so it is very much a simple swap.

Right exhaust cam is off by 3 - 5 teeth and the valve cover has groves cut into it from the chain jumping. Time to pull the head and see the damage. Possible engine swap coming soon if baddy news.
