E300/OM606 question
Ive owned my beloved 1995 “Fluffy” for 15 years and have encountered a problem that I need input on. Over the course of time, I previously have replaced the engine compartment wiring loom and also replaced all glow plugs. As of 12 months ago, I began having the following issues:
1. Below 5deg. Centigrade I get no glow cycle after turning key on.
2. Regardless of temperature, there is a steady illumination of the glow plug light that begins 3 minutes after start and lasts for 1 minute.
3. Until the engine has been at operating temperature for about 5 minutes, there is an intermittent flicker of the glow plug lamp that is sensitive to rpm related vibration.
What I have done so far is:
1. Examined glow plug resistance via the modular connector on the glow plug timing relay—all good.
2. Examined the wiring loom for chaffing and condition—all normal.
3. Swapped out 3 different timing relays. Although 2 of these were new, they each of them provided similar but different modes of failure.
Do any of you have a electrical schematic that might help with wringing out a few wires?
Thanks,
Steve
