Question Blower switch

Hi Guys.
What a great find this site was.
Im having all the usual problems with my climate control.
1. At idle the heater works fine however on the highway the temp drops off (water temp is 80C at idle but falls to 60C at highway speed in winter) I guess this would make it a thermostat problem?
2. Heater blower speed seems to not increase in speed when turning from position I to position II however when switching down from PIII to PII it appears to return to the correct speed for PII
3. When the heater blower switch is in the off position i can hear a vacuum leak whic appears to come from the blower switch spindle.

Any ideas on these problems?

Cheers from Tasmania.........

first item is a clear sign for failing thermostat. Simple to replace and cheap.
second item appears to be the 4-postion switch itself. It tends to have problems over the years of use in postion 1 and 2. I took mine apart, cleaned the contacts, pushed springs a little and it worked fine again. I dont know for how long. But atleast I know it was the switch, and when it fails again it will be replaced. The other option is the resistor bank (behind the fire wall right from the fuse/relay box) for the fan speed and its connector (behind the instrument cluster) both nasty to get to!!!
third item appears okay to me. But you can check when you repair the switch. It has a vacuum connection to operate the flaps of the A/C system.
Good luck.
