Please help with wheel fitment
Hi all, I’m new to this forum and this car in general. I just recently bought a pretty mint 87 300e with only 49k miles !
So anyway i just lowered the car on h&r springs. I have a set of newer style cla 5 spoke wheels. They are 17x7.5 52.5mm offset. I installed a new 225/45/17 tire on them.
So the inside side of the the front tire hits the strut. Easy fix right ? I order h&r 10mm spacers. Wait a week pull the tire off throw the spacer on, bam the spacer won’t fit over the hub. It’s very close but i would prob have to beat it with a hammer to get it all the way on the hub. In addition to that, the wheel bolts all fit in the hole but barely. They all are scraping the outer edge of the whole to the point i can’t hand tighten them in i can only lightly wrench them on. So i am Totally lost. I can’t find any Def answer on what spacer to buy and where and if they are front specific or rear specific. Someone pleaseeeeeee help me out! I just wanna get this thing on the road.
What the heck do i do i have to do to get these darn wheels to fit and if they even will fit without rubbing !
I’ll try to attach a pic of the wheels I’m trying to install.

You're going to have a hard time fitting those wheels for two reasons: Offset and lug bolt size.
For a 17 X 7.5 wheel on a W124 you need an offset around 30 - 35 mm. The wheels you have have an ET of 52.5 so you will need a 20 or so mm spacer. 10 mm might work, but the tire will probably rub on the strut. The spacer must be specific for the MB hubs (112 mm bolt circle and a 66.6 mm hub bore). VW also uses a 112 mm bolt circle but the hub bore is slightly different (57.1 if I recall correctly).
The lug bolt size and length is also an issue. Newer MB wheels (like the ones from a CLA that you have) use a 14 mm lug bolt whereas the W124 uses a 12 mm lug bolt. It is dangerous to use the 12 mm bolts in a wheel designed for 14 mm bolts. There are companies that make 12 mm bolts with a 14 mm size ball so you can mount the later style wheels to earlier cars (try this link http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w124...ball-14mm.html - try google as well). I'm also not sure if they make them extra long to allow for the use of spacers.
Good luck

I bought the spacers from h&r and they were supposed to be for my car i put all my info into the site. Damn i was really hoping these wheels would fit I got them for a very good deal i can’t believe mb changed their offset that much ! And yes i did get longer bolt. I wanted a older set of amg wheels or some monoblocks or something. They just cost so much money and like i said these were very cheap for me.

THey might have sent you the wrong spacers. Squak and send them a picture.
You shouldn't have to hammer them on, and the bolts should go in the holes/threads equi-distance all around them.
Tell them you need:
Center Bore: 66.6
PCD: 5x112

Wow, i knew something couldn’t be right. Ugh, so let me ask this; when i call and give them a ear full. Do i ask for a refund, or is there a spacer that would make these wheel work on my car? If there is a spacer that would work what mm would i need ? Or should i sell these wheels and start over :/
i appreciate everyones help btw. This has been a great forum.

I showed you a link above of the H&R spacers that would work w/our Benz cars.
Ask for a refund and order (maybe from someone else; Amazon? Ebay) the right ones. The link above seems the cheapest (ECSTuning.com).

The ones in the picture appear to be 20 mm thick, 108 mm bolt circle with 5 bolts (5 X 108) and a 65.0 mm hub diameter - totally wrong for the W124. The W124 needs a 112 mm bolt circle with 5 bolts (5 X 112) and a 66.6 mm hub diameter.

20mm? Ya, odd since the OP said he needs 10mm.

Ok so i def have the wrongs ones. Do you think I’d need a 10,15,or 20mm spacer to make these wheels work? Or is the offset too much for a spacer to help. I’m like lost here hahha
