Key won't go in 420sel

1989 420SEL
Key won't go in 420sel
Ignition blocked in 1989 420sel preventing key from going in to ignition. Normally key goes in full length. Now something in ignition is blocking key from even going in and goes in about half to three-quarters of an inch. I can shift out of Park which is disconcerting. Doors lock/unlock with key in door lock. Help
