Offset for w124 question

ok, ive done some research and homework and i noticed that all the 15in factory rims on the 300e's have a 48mm offset, which is wut says on my full sized spare in my trunk (my car is a 91 300E 4Matic)...now my question is if i put on 17x7.5 AMG Monoblock II or AMG Monoblock II replica rims with 35mm offset would these work?? does anyone have any experiance with these?? would there be any rubbing or difference in the quality of the ride. Thnx for the input.

This E420 has a 7,5x17" AMG style.II replicas. Tires are 225/45ZR17 and rub slightly if driven fast over big speedbumps.

rub a dub dub

Hello Benzari,

Where on the car does the 225/45/17 rub?

I am curious because I want to try 225/50/16 on my E320 that has 16" x 7.5" ET37 AMG Monoblock I wheels. I have 205/55/16s that work fine, but I would like the fattest tires possible. I have read that the 215/55/16s rub on the lower body cladding because the 215/55/16 is taller than the 205/55/16. Based on the numbers from the Tirerack website, the 225/50/16 and the 225/45/17 are just about the same diameter as 205/55/16 and stock 195/65/15, so I am hoping they will work. I think I could live with an occasional rub inside the fender, but I don’t want to damage the outside appearance of my car. I also have a very small 1" drop, with Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks. I think the reduced spring travel will help to keep the car from bouncing down onto the tires.

Thank you for the help.
