500e Another ASR thread

its a 1995 500e ASR light is on(no other lights are on and all bulbs work), have been doing research for days. things i have done and checked (car is not mine so i do not know the history)

Throttle body looks brand spanking new (opened wires and those look flawless)
all vacuum hoses look very new (clearly major work has been done very recently)
cleaned up the front speed sensors (were very dirty)
rear tires were incorrect size so i have put correct rear tires on
checked fuses on the base module

car is NOT in limp mode.
ASR light comes on immediately and stays on at all times. not intermittent

gas pedal has about an inch of dead spot. almost have to push half way for anything to happen. but the car runs great
idle seems pretty high at 1K
after a drive when put into park the idle will bounce from 1k to 1.5k constantly.
from under the engine built in 8 pin blink reader i get code 6 (idle speed control?)
tried clearing code by holding down for 8 seconds but comes right back when i turned on the car.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

I bet the throttle body actuator is done , especially at this age. Tho there are a host of other things it could be...like as simple as the neutral lock-out switch.

Sure sounds like it is in LH mode if you have that kind of pedal action.

1995 model? What country you in? Last of the line...that's a keeper !

thanks for the reply, my mistake haha its a 1993

the throttle body looks brand new. cut the wire open to check internals and there very fresh.

the car has tons of power and will do a peel out from a stop if floored haha.

just has ASR light on and idles high at around 1200

after the first 1/2 of the pedal being depressed it feels great. just dead the first 1/2

You will need to check the EGas Module function also, but first thing above all is to check that all connectors are seated and not corroded, this includes the Egas module. Although the Electronic Throttle Actuator wiring looks good, there is still a possibility of an internal failure including the induction coil on the Throttle, the throttle can be rebuilt for about $300-400 dollars. The EGas module can be had for a broad range from $300 to over $1000. Good luck, I rewired my own ETA ( threaded here somewhere) about ten years ago, but that apparently this is not your issue.
