Air filter housing missing a fitting?

Hi guys,
I have been enjoying a new to me 1987 300E. The car is a true time capsule in gorgeous condition with 58,000 miles.
Here's my question: what is supposed to be plugged into the airfilter housing? See pictures please.
TIA!

Vielen Dank Marcel! Hopefully the harness and sensor are floating around in the engine bay. Will go look today.

Hmmm, looked at the engine bay today, but I can't see an unused wire or plug. Can someone snap a picture of the airfilter housing and the wire for the intake temperature sensor and wire? That would help me tremendously in trying to locate mine! Thanks in advance for all help.
