Hard to shift down from P after parking

Occasionally has problem to pull down the gear from P to D after parking the car. It happened when I I last used the reverse gear before putting it at park. The gear seem to be stuck at P even I have stepped hard on the brake. Have to apply a bit of force to pull down. Is it something wrong with my shift lock?
I am driving a 92 200E.

Dont let your tranny lock in P when your parking on a hill. Use the parking brake then put it in P. You shouldn't have any problem shifting out of P.

Thanks MB AMG. Will remember to use the parking brake before shifting to P.

Do you have a 500E in Singapore

That's awesome I lived there for 3 years, it'd be amazing to have a 500

Holson,
Rarely has 500E here. Ppl seem to prefer CLK500/S500 than E500. Most of the E class here are 200E, 240E, 280E, & 300E.

Is your tranny fluid low...or need changing? Bushings worn on the shift mechanism maybe?

Jim's500E,
Shouldn't be the tranny fluid issue. Checked and ok on the tranny fluid level. My friend suggest to put the gear on N first before shift it to P. Will it shorten the tranny's life?
Will get my mechanic to check on the system during my next oil change.
