W124 260E windshield washer fluid reservoir
Greetings W124 fans,
Does anyone know what the black "pig-tail" at the end of the washer fluid reservoir tube is for? Is it a temperature sensor?
I do believe the washer fluid is heated, but thought that metal tubes nearer the top kept it heated with engine coolant. Is this part of the fluid heating system?

Description of part #68 in the washer heating system
Part # 68 looks like it has wires going through it. Does anyone have a description of what #68 is? Perhaps that will provide some clue. Must be the washer fluid hose >>and hopefully<< whatever the wires are used for.

All the original windshield fluid hoses were designed not to freeze, over kill for sure, since we have fluid that doesn't freeze, and heated fluid containers.
Maybe they designed for arctic conditions, whatever...
All the washer fluid hoses have this wire, which acts like heat tape on household plumbing that's exposed to freezing temps.
Unless you live in a location with temps that drop below minus 25° or so, they are not needed.

Thanks for the clear reply. Does seem like overkill, but consider the source. This car does not go out in the winter anyway.
