newbie question, throttle cable on a 300ce

newbie question, throttle cable on a 300ce
Just scored a nice 89' 300CE a little while ago... I have built up quite a few VW but this is my first Benz... Anyway. I obviously snapped/broked my throttle cable yesterday. Have not had the time to mess with it yet... Just wondering....... Does the throttle cable come throught the fire wall under the air filter/box assembly or am I smoking crack here??? Looks to me that I need to pull the air box to access the engine end but want to be sure prior to tearing it apart.
Any words would be appreciated.
