oil change

I would like to change the oil & filter myself but i don't know which type of oil i need. I heard that synthetic oil would probably start leaking for my car. Any suggestions?
Can anyone explain to me step by step how to change the oil & filter? Any special tools i should buy?

btw it's a 94 E320 w124

Auto store will have a filter just ask
10 and a 13mm wrench, they come in the kit in the spare tire well in the trunk, if still there.

08 Lexus GS350 AWD. 08 Lexus RX350 AWD - wife's. 94 MBZ E320 - still have it.
Yes, you will need something similar to that tool to remove the oil filter. Except, I bought this tool at Walmart for under $10.

I have a '94 E320 also. For the last 3 years I've been using 10-40 synthetic oil. (I don't care about the brand.) I change it every 25-30K miles or once a year, which ever comes first. Yes, 25-30 000 miles is not excessive for a synthetic oil, unless you live in Saudi Arabia and tow a semi-trailer loaded with WMD every day through the desert. I replace the oil filter every 12-15K miles.

In other words, here is how it works for me: New oil w/new filter, 15K miles later replace filter, after an other 12-15K replace oil and filter again.
