E320 Cabriolet - ASR light on, but runs fine
I have 1994 E320 Cabriolet. Recently the ASR light has turned on after the car has been running for a short period of time, or when driving (often seemingly after a couple of stop/go/turn movements. It stays on until the car is restarted. In my case, it does NOT cause the car to go into Limp Home mode. It’s just a distraction at this time, but I’m worried there is something more sinister and problematic underlying this. I have replace the switch at the brake pedal, but it did not fix the problem.
I would appreciate any advise on how to diagnose and repair this.
thanks
Update: the ASR light turns on 3 minutes (exactly) after starting the car. It has nothing to do with pressing the brake, turning, or any other similar action. I can simply start the engine, and sit for 3 minutes and the light will turn on.

Have the engine wiring harness and the throttle body adapter been replaced/updated on your car? These components suffer from the so called ecco junk disease wherein the wiring degrades prematurely. All bets are of on the ASR system until these items have been updated to units with a build date after 1998.

It is the original vintage engine wiring harness. I did not look at the throttle body adapter, but I have no recollection of replacing it over the long period of ownership.

95 E320 wagon 81K miles, GLE 350,
Similar issue with my 1994 E Cabriolet. 31K miles and the ASR light started to come on. Low speeds like a drive through. Although no issues than a different feeling brake pedal from time to time I chose to not do anything. Annoyed me. I removed the screws under the dash and pulled the bulb then drove it another 2 years.
