That's nice!

The 500E really pulls at high speeds... wow..

It sounds nice too, did you open up the exhaust?

Nice you liked it

The car is completely stock except the exhaust.

The kats are replaced with two freeflowing ones.
Also the middle muffler is changed in favour of two freeflowing small ones.

I don't really plan to do anything more with it. Think it should be kept mostly stock.. it's not THAT many of them left in good condition nowadays. At least not here in Europe.

Holson: That's one nicelooking E420 you've got..

Henrik,

thanks for the compliments - I am still looking for that E500 though (They are getting so hard to find in the condition that I want - and expensive).

I'm having some trouble getting into my account at b-one from where I am now and upload some pics. But I have an other acount at geocities where I already had one photo uploded. It's a bit restricted thought and I don't know how many downloads it accepts before it "freezes".

It's not as fancylooking as Holson's 420 but it's still in a very good condition.
I paid 10.000 Euro for it in Germany.

Here it is anyway. Picture taken when I picked it up in Sweden.
Maybe more later then.

Thank you for the compliments then!

I use to hang out on the Scandinavian (mostly Swedish) MB forum wich is an extremely active forum. Also very well made.
A pity that you wont understand what's written there though, else I could have highly recommended it.
It often doesn't even last one minute before there are relevant answers to ones posts there.

It's interesting to be in here once in a while and read the posts also.

Yup, nice 500E!

My favorite color for the 500E - and my favorite rims (i'm so biased though)

I take it your 560SEL is stock? I guess being a Euro-spec car it also has the 300hp motor!

Yes, it's with the 300hp engine and completely stock. Think I'll keep it that way also..
Have thought of a little lowering and som bigger rims, but maybe I'll only regret it later..
It's also fun to have the car with it's complete original character. At least when it's an older car.
BUT.. sure, they do look nice with some mild lowering and bigger rims.

WOW Henrik you have my Dreamcar!!!
I just LOVE the 500E (not the later E500 that is...) and with the LTD wheels it's very very nice.
I time your 0-100kph in 5.2secs, wich is REALLY fast for a stock 500E. did the exhaust bring some extra hp/nm with it?
How many kms does you car have? I'm guessing 152.000 from de vid?

just great...really...

Thanks!
..but I see you have a special car also! ..300E biturbo.. ?! That must be something special...
Yes, 152.000 is about right.
I think the real 0-100 time is a little closer to 6 secs since the speedos in cars uses to show a bit too much. But in the other hand I didn't rev the engine at the start.
It's hard to tell with the exhaust. Not a BIG difference.. but maybe a little...

I love the sound though

Especially at the beginning of the video! It sounds awesome!

If you could get clips of the exhaust from outside the car it'd be sweet! i.e standing still or have someone else tape it from another car.

yeah the 300E is idd a really great car... it's in the family since '94. my dad bought it with about 100.000kms on it, and than put on a Mosselman Turbokit. it now has 250.000kms, but it has a problem with hot start.
The turbo's give you a great rush , but the feeling & sound of that V8 must also be very great. power is similar (300E has 292hp), but V8 has 80NM more... The 500E is a very very special car...

thx for the reply,

matteus

Henrik,

Nice car! Is your oil light on or something?

The MB 500E/E500 is one of my top two favorite sedans, the other being the 89-95 BMW M5.

Too bad MB/Porsche didn't hand make an E500 Estate!

BMW M hand built the E34 M5 and they even made an M5 Touring (estate) from 92-95.

Yes that's right. It was the washerfluid.

I've put the original rearmuffler back on the car again now. It was just to load with the new one. A pity though because it sounded great at full throttle. But I couldn't stand the vibrations and droning inside the car on low revs and part throttle. Impossible. It didn't really suit the car either.
Now it still has some of the good sound left on full throttle, but much more muted on part throttle. Not as fun but the only way to do it in the long run.
Fun while it lasted though :-) I have to listen to the tape when I long for the old sound :-)

my dad put it on in '94. he did business with ***** Mosselman because he had AMG/Brabus/Mosselman tuning company. I think it was something around $6500 back then.
