My Next Project

Hello gentlemen

I have been given the opportunity to buy a 1992 W124 500E.
The asking price is just under $8k.

The only down-side to this is that the engine overheats, the owner is out of town and has instructed a middle man to sell it.
The location of the car is Saudi Arabia.

I am taking the worst-case scenario that the engine might need to replaced (worst-case scenario )

So here are my 2 questions:

1. Is 8k a fair price for this car? I can probably negotiate him down a little.

2. I have a dear friend of mine that has a complete M119 6.0 AMG engine, complete with transmission, diff, and ECU available to sell me. Last time I checked he was asking 13k for the whole thing.

Your thoughts, please. I currently have only one picture of the car, the seller is going to send me more including videos.

Hi there

Anybody can tell you anything.

if its worth it for you to spend the 8k to buy it and possibly another 15-20 to bring it to life, then do it.

if not, please pass on the contact. I would consider shipping it out of the country if its a well maintained example.

As far as the conversion, the idea of turning it into a 6.0amg is the only reason id like you to have it

hope the vets will chip in about the conversion.
