Air Intake Mods...

Air Intake Mods...
Im looking for more intake mods to do to my 300E that can give me a little more power. I already have a cold air intake. Does anyone know anything I can do to give me more power for not much $? Check out my car at http://members.cardomain.com/rideatmidknight and tell me what you think!

You will not gain anything by trying to fiddle with the intake system on a Benz. The original system feeds plenty of air to the engine as it is. I don,t know what you are talking about when you say quote"I already have a cold air intake"
Improving power on the W124 is in direct relation to your budget. Noticeable improvements needs several thousands$$$ before you can feel it.
The best advise I can give you is to bring your car back to its mechanical original state. This is your best bang for the bucks invested.

heh yeah and actually I had recently just replaced the air filter on my car with k&n and chopped out the middle part of the air intake hose that directs to the front. Essentially the main change this did was lessen acceleration lag with the air conditioning running...nice cheap mod.

By chopping out the middle part of the air intake hose, you are now sucking hot underhood air into your engine. You have not improved performance, you've downgraded it.
K&N filter: More noise, less filtering performance, more dirt into the engine....and check the price of a new MAFS, which you will probably need very soon .

I have the AMG air cleaner where a second intake is routed over the engine near the firewall in the engine compartment. While this gives the engine more air, it is warm. I have been thinking about fabricating a hose to the front like the stock intake. Does anyone have info on this AMG option?

K & N's are great just becareful and don't over oil them or you'll mess up your MAS..

i dont see a problem with posting an update for purpose of giving a retrospective
review. under contention was that fire and brimstone would descend and that
it was a sorry mod. update served to support that car is still running fine. i

Umm...I have an after market intake from Wade Performances. I have had a slight increase in performance and fuel economy, so don't listen to what people have to say. Go out ...buy it and then if it works for you...good...if it doesn't, go back to OEM !!
