INTAKE MANIFOLD-EXCESS FUEL

I have a 1992 Mercedes 300E 3.0L I just purchased. Can anyone tell me why I found a small puddle of fuel when I removed my throttle body. I’ve never seen something like this. Intake manifold should be dry, correct?? Take a look at the picture. Thanks and any feedback is appreciated.

Puddle of fuel at the bottom of the intake manifold when throttle body was removed. Why?
