W124 Speedometer

Hello and good day to you,
I own a W124 E300 TurboDiesel and absolutly love it to bits but the only thing that kinda bothers me everytime I drive it is that the speedo starts from 20kph, I was wondering if there was any speedo from a different model or any custom one from some company that just starts from 0.
Thanks in advance!

Do you notice it move at all as you are traveling up to 30 kph ..Or put it another way ,,will the speedo show any movement at al till it gets up to 30kph You need to go to Diesel Giant web site to see how the needle is remove DG is replacing the gear wheels in the speedo and goes through step by step on how to remove the speed pointer from a W123 but the operation is much the same on the W124 i used it to reset my W124 when it stoped clocking up the kph well miles over here in uk .,,

This might be a problem with the nylon gear in the auto box but its easy to replace it in situ . Or a bad speedo cable,,, but if it is never on zero,, and stuck on 30kph its got to be the VDO speedo head it self .Much quicker to swop it our for another good one . Without removing it and giving it a visual inspection you wont know .To buy another you go off the numbers on the VDO speedo that are below the slots for the trip kph looking at it from the drivers view . Wish i could help you more,,, i can repair these but we are so far away. good luck

Hello, My speedo works perfectly as soon as I hit 20km/h the needle starts climbing as you would expect, it doesn't bounce or anything it works absolutely perfectly I'm talking about the physical gauge cluster, the lowest speed the needle can go is 20km/h which kind of bothers me and my OCD as even if the car is stopped the needles rests at 20, my question was if I could change the whole cluster for one that starts from 0km/h, but thanks for your reply anyways I appreciate it!
