Just an FYI guys. I have been using a VW oil filter (part #06a-115-561-b) on my 1990 300e without any problems. This is the same filter that was used on all 4 cyl. VW's except TDI's. Supposedly just recently VW came out with a new oil filter for the 1.8t, WOW WHoopdeedoo, like that's gonna fix all their problems This filter is the same size as the oem MB. The reason I took this one for my MB is cause I worked as a parts guy at a VW dealer for 2 years and got the filter for cost
