1986 300e Cold Start - Hot Start Issues
1986 300e W124 103 engine.
170k miles
New Items:
Plugs & wires, Rotary Cap, Voltage Regulator, OVP Relay, Fuel Pump Relay, Kilma Relay.
Think I should try to clean these:
Idle air control valve
Cold start valve
airflow sensor
Problem:
1st morning start, 3 sec crank. No start. 2cd attempt usually successful.
Car drives well, like new. After driving long or even very short distance, stop at a store for 10mins. Come back to car. Crank, no start. 2cd attempt on start has to give all gas for 3 sec then it starts.
The thing I noticed every time no start - when hot, is a sound like compression...boom (a quick, and quite boom). When I turn the key to start, it cranks, then boom, only once...then cranks only. Full gas on crank, then after 3-4 seconds it starts, and I can smell gas briefly
after it starts.. Don't think it's a backfire because it's quite and at the engine under the hood.
Could one of these cause this issue?
Idle air control valve
Cold start valve
airflow sensor
