Awful fuel consumption
My 1993 400E just had a top overhaul, changed the valve seals and guides, tensioners, chain guides etc...
After the overhaul, the engine is now consuming 50 to 100% more fuel. It seems to be running fine, idling with tranny in "D" is about 550- 600 rpm, but sometimes when I put it in "P" or "N", rpm goes up to 900 or 1000. A full tank of gas of about 55 to 60 liters lasts for about 90 to 120 miles only. Im in SE Asia and the traffic here is awful, mostly bumper to bumper stop and go traffic. Before the overhaul I would get about 170 to 190 miles per full tank of gas.
Could it be the engine timing? Because the shop did not get the car's timing right the first time.
