1994 E420 Exhaust System
Out of curiosity, how much increased performance and how much more money would be involved in something beyond the stock?
We're just trying to do some cost analysis here, so prices would be helpful.
Thanks!
A stock exhuast should not be $1100, I am looking at my Performance Products catalogue and the rear muffler is $470 and the center is $250, that is a complete cat back system (not performace but stock). This could be installed by you and maybe a buddy, if you have some jack stands, its not realy that hard.
What I am considering doing is taking out my center muffler, this will give me a much better sound, and my car will become about 50lb lighter. It would also save you some money, but youw would have to have someone make you a y pipe (in place of the center muffler) to complete the system.
Another place you may want to check out is http://www.timevalve.com/ from what I hear they make some good stuff, they will even fab up that Y pipe for you.

The MB exhaust (OEM or aftermarket) is one piece from the exhaust manifold back to the tail pipe.
To do it at the dealer was $1,600.
My MB tech used an aftermarket unit, and it was $980 installed.
