Stupid Question Seeking Bright Answers

Since I just got a TE, I know nothing except what I've read about the self-leveling rear suspension. The car rides pretty wonkily all around, so I need to do some basic suspension improvements anyway, but how do I know whether or not the self-leveling system is working? Do I just put a heavy load in the back and watch what happens?

Ya, try that and see what happens. It should by all accounts work. I have the same ride and same year as well. Let me know what mileage you get in town on a full tank and what happens with the suspension.

Try this first

I guess the car has a pretty good milage after 15 years of service. My target to cjeck first would be the sway bars and links at the rear axle. If the joints are worn out the ride becomes sluggish and not really precise any more. on top you might change the 4 rubber pieces where the rear axle is bolted to the chassis. I all that swapped after 13 years and about 250.000 km, and the change was dramatically to the better.
