'89 230CE Heat Shield

I have an '89 230CE. The passenger side of the hood heats up a lot more than the driver side due to the presence of the exhaust manifold on the right.

The later W124's came with a heat shield over the exhaust manifold. Has anyone crafted a heat shield over the exhaust manifold on the right?

The post '89 exhaust shields I believe were added to protect against the changes caused by the air pump that was added to the belt system. Probably not needed for cars without them.
I have a '90 exhaust manifold that has the shields. I swapped mine because the '90 I found had no rust, not for the shield. But it perhaps does help a little.

Better protection maybe the hood pad and the rubber strip that protects the fenders from heat. Make sure you have both as I noticed the top of the fender gets hotter than the hood without the rubber strips. At least on a W201.

But if you would like the shields, I would say the best way is to go to your junk yard and pick manifolds/shields from any W201 or W124 with M103 engines like yours.

Cheers!
