Where to go for a valve job

My 1991 300E keeps fowling the #6 plug at about 2K miles. My mechanic said to just swap in a new plug whenever it starts missing. Of course, that is easy enough to do. I asked him what the long-term solution was and he said a valve job. He also said that it would be $2,500-$3,000.

I don't mind doing the labor to remove and replace the head myself. Is there a shop that you recommend that I can ship the head to for a quality (and reasonably priced) valve job on a M103 head?

OP the planet is rather large to be making suggestions; not knowing where you are.

Do some looking locally. Ask reputable repair shops who does good cylinder head work.

I used to replace valve stem seals in those. May be worth trying before pulling the head. Just replace them for the hole that fouls and see how it goes.
